Leadership Impact

John Maxwell gives one of the most succinct definitions of leadership when he says, leadership is influence...nothing more, nothing less. Influential people are impactful people. Leaders are influencers with the ability to impact others.

The irony of leadership impact is that it happens even leadership is absent. In other words, lack of leadership is just as impactful as active leadership. Indecisiveness and passivity impact those we lead as much as active engagement.

What message are you sending in your leadership style? When we lack awareness of our leadership impact, others pay the price. Assess your impact by asking others how they experience your leadership. Be inquisitive, be open and allow others to impact you.

The Call Of Leadership

Leadership is an attractive word. However, the implications are not as attractive. One of the requirements of leadership is taking responsibility for leadership decisions. I’ve heard many people say they are called to leadership, but I’ve observed that the call to leadership is validated when a person takes responsibility for leadership calls. Here’s another way to say it: Everyone wants to be a leader until they have to take responsibility for being a leader.

It is not enough to say I am a leader. I have to live like it and own what comes with it.

Welcome!

It's been a while since I've written a blog post. It's been even longer since I've had an actual website, let alone one that bears my name. The fear of inconsistency has handcuffed many bloggers before me and probably will hamper many after me, but I've learned that every unhealthy fear tends to over-exaggerate...so, I'm calling its bluff. It's time to write. It's time to blog. It's time.

I'm excited about the content that will be posted on this site. Your potential growth excites me more. So, stay tuned. There's more to come!
